Protecting our Constitution

Protecting Our Constitution

One of the reasons I am running for president as a Republican is because I believe they believe in this country, as it was founded. I also believe they have lost their way and have become misguided. It is my hope to gain their ear on the issues that affect the nation and threaten our true identity as a place where all people can live together in peace and harmony. I believe in this country and I know what we need to make it great again.
But, many in the party, even while saying they want to protect our nation and the constitution, are seeking to undermine the very essence of that constitution. A new movement is afoot to add a specific definition to the constitution of what is a marriage. Perhaps, if this was just a ploy to make life miserable for homosexuals, I could see it happening. But, it is not. It is an effort to establish a national religion.

There are those who say we already have a national religion and this nation has Christian roots. I am not going to argue with them. The founding fathers of this nation knew their Bible. In fact, they knew it so well that they founded a government based on that knowledge. Specifically, they knew that JESUS never called HIS people to try to control other people. They knew that HE never suggested that they bully those who disagreed with HIM or them. They saw what happened when the church got control of government is Europe and England, and they forged a document to ensure that could never happen here. But, there is more to this.

Because, this effort is not just an attack on the right to pursue happiness. This is an effort to silence every Christian who disagrees with a particular doctrine. Even those Justices that have argued on behalf of Christian influence in our laws, have acknowledged that the constitution was written to ensure that one specific denomination, or doctrine, was not preferred (or made into law) by our government.

They do this by saying that the other churches are not worthy to be called Christian. Yet, what is the greater sin? To accept homosexual marriage, or to do something in the name of JESUS that JESUS never said to do? JESUS never said to tear apart a nation. HE said to be peacemakers.

Yet, this is where we are now. There are Christians who want to undermine the very foundations of our nation to force their opinions and wants on all those who disagree with them. This is the very thing our constitution is supposed to ensure cannot happen.

I do not know why we can't all just live in peace. I do not know why so many Christians have rejected the teachings and plans of JESUS. I do not know what happened to “Live in peace with all men”. But, this attitude and these actions are killing our nation and destroying the very peace that was intended for its citizens.

If we want to see an end of same sex unions, we need to do the way JESUS said. There is no power in government do do this. There is only the power of GOD. That power is in how many Christians follow the teachings and plans JESUS set down, not in government and courts. The power of the Christian church is not in government.

Please, no matter how you feel about homosexuals getting married, it is not worth destroying this nation, and our constitution, for you to have your own way.

LOVE NEVER DEMANDS ITS OWN WAY

(1st Corinthians Chapter 13)
